Ben Fletcher-Watson

Research Associate

Dr Ben Fletcher-Watson holds a PhD in drama from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the University of St Andrews, supported by an ESRC CASE Studentship. He is a Postdoctoral Fellow within the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities. Doctoral research examined contemporary Scottish practice in theatre for early years. Research interests include linkages between theatre, education and technology, such as enhancing live performance for diverse audiences through the application of mobile and wearable technologies; developing children's apps with/for arts and cultural sector organisations; relaxed performance (also known as autism-friendly performance); live-casting, web-casting and other live broadcasts of performing arts; enriching drama school training via wikis and MOOCs.

Ben has published in journals including Youth Theatre Journal, Journal of Early Childhood Research and Research in Drama Education. He serves on the Executive of the Theatre and Performance Research Association (TaPRA) and is an ASSITEJ Next Generation Artist. He regularly speaks at theatre festivals and conferences around the world.
