I am researching how online social network sites are being used for informal language learning. The three languages that are being investigated – Cornish and Irish (both minority languages) and English – have been chosen on account of the differing sociolinguistic contexts in which they reside. The aim of this study is to explore investment in language learning as related to the development of learners’ imagined identities and imagined communities via online interaction.
