Working title: The use of Automated Writing Evaluation (AWE) technologies as a support tool for students of English as a second language

Ana Isabel is a PhD Education student at Moray House School of Education. She is currently researching how technology (specifically, Automated Writing Evaluaton software) can support ESL students in developing their academic writing skills while studying at English-medium universities. Other research interests include:

  • Learning analytics and data-driven education
  • Natural language processing in education
  • Use of technological tools to enhance and support education

On 3rd October Ana Hibert of the Centre for Research in Digital Education led a 24-hour hackathon at the University of Edinburgh to explore new approaches to some of the challenges faced in digital education today. The University of Edinburgh event was joined by more than 1700 participants in 21 separate countries solving 60 challenges in 24 hours as part of DigiEduHack.

Ana Hibert of the Centre for Research in Digital Education, supported by Dr Michael Gallagher, recently organised a 24-hour hackathon at the University of Edinburgh to explore new approaches to some of the challenges faced in digital education today. The University of Edinburgh was joined by more than 1700 participants in 21 separate countries solving 60 challenges in 24 hours as part of DigiEduHack.
