The third Una Europa PhD workshop took place from 30 May – 1 June 2022, in Helsinki, Finland. Twenty doctoral students attended the workshop, from six of the Una Europa universities. The workshop was organised in partnership between the University of Edinburgh and the University of Helsinki, with CRDE co-director Jen Ross as one of the lead organisers.
The workshop brought together ideas about mobilities, mutuality and the future, along with close attention to digital objects, technologies, policies and practices. The workshop and its design and approach mirrored the shifts we are seeing in heritage studies more generally – with a focus on interdisciplinarity and critical emphasis on the theoretical challenges of studying the spatial, material and conceptual volatility of heritage and its meanings.
These issues formed a backdrop for the workshop, and were tackled with great energy by the participants, who developed their audio storytelling skills through a series of sessions and skills development activities. Four audio stories produced by the workshop groups will be available in podcast form in the coming weeks.
