Carlos is a doctoral student in the joint “Global Ph.D.” program at the University of Edinburgh and the K.U. Leuven (Belgium).
His research explores the role of the new Educational technology brokers in secondary schools. Brokers are defined as the intermediary organizations between schools and Edtech companies. They have become increasingly prominent actors after the Covid-19 emergency, and so far they have remained unexplored. The main goal of this research is to achieve a rich conceptualization of the edtech brokers as well as their effects at both the policy and the practice level.
He completed his MSc in Educational studies at the K.U. Leuven and holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Previously, he worked as a school teacher for three years both in rural areas of Colombia and in Belgium. His interests are interdisciplinary, including philosophy of education, (post) critical qualitative methodologies, and governance studies.
