Danielle Hotz

Danielle Hotz is a PhD student in Education at the University of Edinburgh, funded by the Edinburgh Doctoral College Scholarship of Moray House. Her research examines the use of nudification AI apps and AI-generated child sexual abuse material (AI-CSAM) in schools. Drawing on criminological and feminist frameworks, it looks at harm between students and teachers, how schools respond, and gaps in curriculum, safeguarding and law. Danielle has helped to found this emerging research area and produced the first Europe-based study of parent and carer understanding of nudification AI. She holds a BA (Hons) in Sociology and an MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Durham University and has published in the SAGE Journal of Criminology & Criminal Justice and with NOTA.
