Anna Wood

Research Associate

Dr Anna Wood holds a PhD in Physics (2000, University of Durham) and is also a graduate from the Digital Education MSc Programme (2013). She is currently a research associate in the School of Mathematics exploring how detailed data about classroom practices can support lecturers’ reflective practice.

In 2016 she developed the FILL https://blogs.ed.ac.uk/fill/ (framework for interactive learning in lectures) tool for characterising activities in large classes which has since been applied across STEM subjects. Her other research interests focus on the use of technology in flipped, active learning lectures, and on the dialogues that take place in these lectures, both between students and between teacher and student, and the way in which these dialogues may support learning. She was also the Research Associate on the ‘Asking the Right Question’ project in 2017.

She blogs at ‘The Science of Scientific Learning’ http://learningfrome-learning.blogspot.com/
