The Data Education in Schools team have reached the final of the ‘Educational Initiative’ and ‘Data for Good’ categories of the 2023 British Data Awards for their work creating British Sign Language gestures for Cyber Security, Computing Science and Data Science.
The UK-wide team brought together eight deaf people who are also tech experts with funding from Skills Development Scotland to develop and test more than 500 signs. The project aimed to help the deaf community in schools, colleges, universities, and workplaces access qualifications and careers in tech.
We’re thrilled for the entire team involved in this project and wish them well at the awards ceremony. Winners will be announced on 11th May 2023.
