Data Vis Activities for Children – Hands-on Exploration of Activities & Challenges around Visual, Physical, and Tangible Representations for Play and Data Literacy!
Location: In-person only, co-located with the IDC Conference in Brighton, UK
Date: June 22nd 2026 (morning)
We are excited to announce a hands-on in-person workshop for researchers, educators, and practitioners to explore innovative ways of engaging children with data through visual, physical, and tangible representations. Led by Dushani Perera, the workshop will take place as a co-located event at the IDC Conference on the 22nd of June in Brighton, UK.
What to Expect:
* Hands-on Activities: Dive into interactive hands-on sessions
* Panel Discussions: Hear from experts in the field
* World Café-Style Session: Collaborate and brainstorm solutions to key challenges
How to Participate: We welcome two types of submissions:
Activities (2-6 pages): Description of an activity designed for children, including context, target age group, instructions, materials, and potential findings or challenges encountered. (Template available on the website)
Reports (1-2 pages): Template-agnostic reflections on activities focused on visual, physical, and tangible representations for play and data literacy.
Review Process: All submissions will be reviewed by at least two PC members and one workshop organizer.
