This pilot study is looking at babies’ and infants’ interactions with technology in the home.
This study focuses on visits to between six and eight families that use an iPad with their infant. We are extending the methods used in the CBeebies evaluation to look at the factors shaping young children’s interactions with digital devices, focusing on how these interactions are mediated by caregivers. Data collection consists of interviews with caregivers and video recording children’s use of the iPads. Parents are asked to use three pre-selected apps that are of particular interest to us in terms of high quality and interaction design but they will also be invited to talk to us about their family’s favourites.
