1-3pm, Teaching room 7, Old College
The Data Education in Schools project is working to develop curricular resources and professional learning workshops for teachers. We have developed a curricular framework for data education, showing topics areas of the existing Scottish school curriculum where pupils aged 3 to 18 can use data literacy skills in their learning. We would like to present this data education framework and seek views on relevant and engaging contexts for learning across all curricular areas.
How can we get young people excited and enthusiastic about data, and support them to be active citizens within a data society? How can we help learners to understand the importance of data and how it is used in industry? And how do we support teachers in schools to teach using data science activities across the curriculum?
The session will bring together industry experts to discuss ways we can all work together to help educators and learners get engaging and inspiring data science experiences. We would like to consult people from a wide range of sectors in how data is used currently in their organisations so that we can develop relevant learning experiences in a range of contexts.
