
Lecturer in Digital Education and the Global South
We are looking for a talented and ambitious individual to undertake teaching and critical research in areas relating to the role of digital technologies in education in the Global South, particularly as it applies to marginalisation for traditionally underrepresented groups. The post is an exciting opportunity to be part of the thriving Centre for Research in Digital Education, and to connect with the new Edinburgh Futures Institute.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- A track-record in distinctive and internationally excellent research in digital education in the Global South.
- A completed PhD in a relevant area.
- Experience in teaching and assessment on postgraduate programmes including experience and enthusiasm for online teaching and learning.
- Experience of course and curriculum design and leadership in digital education.
Main responsibilities:
- Contribute to the delivery of teaching, assessment and course and programme organisation/leadership to meet the School’s teaching and learning objectives in the area of education in the Global South (30%).
- Supervise postgraduate and doctoral students, developing the reputation of the School for critical research in this area (10%).
- Conduct and develop excellent research in the field by contributing to and leading funding proposals, publishing in high quality journals and contributing to knowledge exchange activities (40%).
- Undertake citizenship and leadership activities in the School and within the Centre for Research in Digital Education (15%).
- Undertake any other reasonable duties, commensurate with the job title, as determined by the line manager (5%).

Senior Lecturer in Futures
We are looking for a talented and ambitious individual to lead on teaching and research in areas relating to critical futures studies, futuring methodologies and transdisciplinary approaches to education. The post is an exciting opportunity to lead on new approaches to interdisciplinary teaching in the Edinburgh Futures Institute and to join the thriving Centre for Research in Digital Education in Moray House.
Skills and attributes for success:
- A record of developing distinctive research in futures studies and literacies, with a particular focus on methodologies and critical approaches.
- A PhD in a relevant area (Desirable).
- Strong experience of curriculum design, development and leadership.
- Enthusiasm for innovative and inclusive teaching, both online and in-person.
Main responsibilities:
- Teach and lead on the organisation of teaching across the Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) postgraduate core courses (modules). These are large, compulsory courses which cover futures studies and futuring methods, interdisciplinary thinking and data skills (40%)
- Supervise postgraduate and doctoral students within EFI and the Moray House School of Education and Sport (10%)
- Conduct and lead excellent research in the field of critical futures studies by contributing to and leading funding proposals, publishing in high quality journals and contributing to knowledge exchange activities (40%)
- Undertake citizenship activities within MHSES and EFI (5%)
- Undertake any other reasonable duties, commensurate with the job title and grade, as determined by the line manager (5%)
