The organising committee of the first European Conference on Critical Edtech Studies (ECCES), including Centre colleague Dr Ben Williamson, have published a position statement reflecting on the inaugural edition of the ECCES event, which was hosted at the Zurich University of Teacher Education in June 2025.
In the report, the authors both look back and forward in the field of Critical EdTech Studies (CES) and aim to both contribute to defining the field and envision the future of the discipline.

After the success of the inaugural conference, the committee have decided to organise an ECCES Futuring Studio, titled "Shaping (Better) Educational and Societal Futures through and with Critical Edtech Research“, which will take place next year.
