
The Children and Technology group with the Digital Education Research Centre at Moray House School of Education and Sport is inviting applications for the post of Lecturer in Children and Technology (full-time, open-ended). We are seeking a motivated individual able to make a significant contribution to the field of Child-Computer Interaction, developing links between academia, industry and practitioners at the interface of education and technology for children.
We are seeking an entrepreneurial-minded academic, able and willing to lead in the facilitation of EdTech product development processes and interaction design with students, children and practitioners. The post is an exciting opportunity to be part of the thriving Centre for Research in Digital Education, and to teach on the highly successful MSc in Education.
You should have a growing research portfolio in areas such as Interaction Design, Children and Technology or EdTech entrepreneurialism. Teaching expertise should demonstrate innovation and might include digital pedagogy, computational digital methods and supervision of students using qualitative and quantitative methods for research at Masters and PhD level.
Main responsibilities
- Conduct and develop excellent research in the fields of children and technology, EdTech entrepreneurialism/ commercialisation and/or interaction design with/for children. Conduct high quality research by contributing to and leading funding proposals and sustaining other research-related contributions through journal publications and conference (e.g. Interaction Design and Children) presentations. Lead the development of knowledge exchange activities and commercial revenue generation through CPL and/or commercialisation (40%).
- Contribute to the delivery of teaching, assessment and course organisation on the MSc Education to meet the School’s teaching and learning objectives in the area of children and technology (30%).
- To co-develop and gain approval for new postgraduate courses in Children and Technology focusing on Interaction Design as well as expand current courses in Children and Technology and EdTech Commercialisation (10%)
- Supervise postgraduate and doctoral students, developing the reputation of the School in the field of children and technology and education entrepreneurship (10%).
- Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the job title, as determined by the line manager (10%).
