Last month, Professor Judy Robertson joined a panel of experts and practitioners for a Holyrood events and Nesta roundtable discussion on the topic 'Education and the fourth industrial revolution'.

The panel comprised representatives from The General Teaching Council for Scotland, SEEMiS (the Education Management Information System provider), the Scottish Schools Education Research Centre, the Digital Xtra Fund, the University of Edinburgh, Kelvinside Academy (Scotland’s first School of Innovation), and Microsoft Education.  Polly Purvis OBE chaired the event.

Discussion focused on access to technology across Scotland, the role of digital teaching and learning, and the attainment gap.

On the purpose of digital learning and how education prepares young people for the workplace of the future, Judy commented "It’s about looking to the competencies children need to have when they grow up, not just for the workplace but for society."
