Ari Beckingham

Thesis working title: Designing emerging digital technologies for young learners in informal learning environments

Ari Beckingham is a PhD student in Design Informatics (Edinburgh College of Art) and Moray House (School of Education). Her research explores how emerging technology can be used to better young children’s understanding of climate change through play. She completed her MSc Design and Digital Media in 2020 at The University of Edinburgh and has a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design. She has taught English as a Foreign Language in a language centre for a couple of years and then online since 2019. Her interests include:

  • Emerging technology, specifically augmented and virtual reality
  • Learning through playing
  • Learning in an informal environment
