Thesis title: The communication of cultural heritage among European students. A comparative international analysis of museums, collections, and university archives in Edinburgh and Madrid.
Raul is a Ph.D. candidate from the first cohort of students of the Una Europa Joint Doctorate in Cultural Heritage. He is enrolled in the Audiovisual Communication Ph.D. program at Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) and the Education Ph.D. program at Moray House School of Education and Sport of the University of Edinburgh.
He researches new ways of engaging young people with cultural heritage through new technologies. He studies the perception of university students from several European university museums and collections and learns from their interaction with the cultural heritage in order to show how the development of digital educational projects and content based on these cultural heritage assets can be used to engage this audience. He is mainly focused on the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Edinburgh museums and collections.
Raul is a Postgraduate Teaching Assistant (PGTA) at the Complutense University of Madrid. He has been designated in February 2023, European Heritage Youth Ambassador 2023, as part of an initiative coordinated by Europa Nostra, ESACH, and the European Heritage Tribune. He is also a member of the Europeana Network Association, where he is a member of the Steering Group of the Education community, where he develops initiatives around digital education in the cultural heritage sector. He is also a Board Member of ESACH, the European Student Association of Cultural Heritage, a member of Universeum, the European Academic Heritage Network, and a Youth Member of Europa Nostra.
