Children, Interaction, and Design group

The Children, Interaction, and Design (CID) group aims to improve children’s lives by bringing together research, practice and industry expertise to improve understanding of how children think, feel, communicate, and interact with the world around them, and use this knowledge to develop new theories, methods, processes and designs.

We work across contexts (e.g., school, home, science centre) and value the multimodal nature of interaction, striving to include children from all backgrounds. Throughout our work, we value co-creation with multiple stakeholders including teachers, museums/centres, parents, policy makers, designers, and industry. With partners, we pursue ways to scale and sustain the impact of our work to benefit all children, including through the commercialisation of designs.

The CID group is hosting an event to bring together academic, practitioner, and industry partners at Dynamic Earth on Friday 3rd March 2023.
