Entering e-Society: Young children's development of e-literacy

This project, based at the University of Stirling, investigated parents’ expectations and aspirations for their children’s futures as users of technology.

The project provided observations of children using technology at home, and considered the extent to which a digital divide was emerging between young children who had opportunities to make use of technology and those who did not. The project focused on 24 families who were visited regularly over a 15-month period and included consultation with a range of education professionals on the implications of the project’s findings for early years education.
