Tomorrow’s Cities is the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) Urban Disaster Risk Hub – a five-year global interdisciplinary research group.
Ana Hibert of the Centre for Research in Digital Education, supported by Dr Michael Gallagher, recently organised a 24-hour hackathon at the University of Edinburgh to explore new approaches to some of the challenges faced in digital education today. The University of Edinburgh was joined by more than 1700 participants in 21 separate countries solving 60 challenges in 24 hours as part of DigiEduHack.
Data Education in Schools (DES) takes a socially responsible and consultative partnership approach with children and teachers to understand their concerns and hopes about how new technologies will impact their lives. We investigate how critical concerns about technology in education are considered by school-aged learners and their educators. The ethos of the DES programme (and related projects) is to uphold children’s right to be consulted about issues which impact them in the digital realm.
