On 17 October at 16.00 (UK time), there will be a unique opportunity to discuss the programme with Siân Bayne and Jen Ross. This is what they say:

Siân Bayne: "My first job at Edinburgh University was to set up the MSc in Digital Education, then the MSc in E-learning. At the time – 2006 – there was very little research on digital education which took a longer, more critical view of the impact of technology on how we teach, and how we organise our education systems. The MSc was the first programme in the world which was built on this kind of research, and the first to combine it with creative and fully online teaching. Since then the programme has matured and evolved – in large part through the input of our incredible students – and the research it is based in has also strengthened, with a Research Centre being built around it."

Jen Ross: "I have led the Digital Futures for Learning elective course since 2010, and it has been instrumental in my thinking about education futures and speculative methods and pedagogies. In fact, I wrote about the course, and the Open Educational Resources students have created on it, in my 2023 book, also called “Digital Futures for Learning”. For me, the Digital Education programme has always been a place and a community that pushes the boundaries of what higher education and online learning can be, and I am excited every time this course runs to build new futures alongside our incredible students."

Further information about the other sessions on schedule will be published in due course.
