James Lamb, Lecturer in Digital Education, and colleagues Lucila Carvalho (Massey University) and Pippa Yeoman (University of Sydney) recently participated in the 2024 Annual Meeting of the International Society of the Learning Sciences (ISLS). They discussed three chapters from Postdigital Learning Spaces: Towards Convivial, Equitable and Sustainable Spaces for Learning, a new book edited by James and Lucila and published by Springer.
By exploring learning spaces beyond higher education, the edited collection investigates ways in which postdigital learning spaces can be more "convivial, equitable, and sustainable". In the light of the challenges of our world, the studies collected in the book also consider the experiences of refugees and displaced persons, and explore learning spaces in schools, outdoor education, the city, and elsewhere. The collection features contributions by Centre colleagues and associates David Overend, Lecturer in Interdisciplinary Studies, and Javier Tejera, Senior Learning Technology and Design Advisor at the Edinburgh Futures Institute.
At the ISLS Annual Meeting, James reported on an experiment where he investigated whether and how the train journey could function as a postdigital learning space.
