Professor of Digital Culture and Education Futures

I am Centre co-director (Digital Cultures), and Associate Dean (Research Cultures) in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. In the Edinburgh Futures Institute, I am co-director of the MSc in Education Futures. I also teach on the MSc in Digital Education, and I am a senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy. My research interests include education and cultural heritage futures, speculative methods, online distance education, digital cultural heritage learning, open education and digital cultures. I supervise masters and PhD students in these and related areas.

Talking around the globe: upcoming chances to meet our researchers

Members of the Centre have accepted a number of national and international speaking invitations for conferences and events in recent months - in destinations as far-flung as Stanford, Singapore, Sydney and Guadalajara. Closer to home we'll be speaking in Malta, Leeds, Milton Keynes, Spain and Croatia.

The new Digital Cultural Heritage Network launches next week, with networking, research conversations and Rebecca Sinker from the Tate discussing: Tomato Tomato (təˈmātō, təˈmätō): Fruitful conversations and cultural misunderstandings in digital research collaborations.

Launch of Centre for Research in Digital Education

 

The Digital Education Centre formally launched on 26th November at a party in the Scottish Storytelling Centre on the High Street, Edinburgh.

We had an excellent and well-attended night, and it was great to have so many colleagues, students and friends come and share the celebration.

We celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the MSc in Digital Education at the same time, and with graduation happening the following day, were able to welcome many of our graduands too.
